Hey! I’m Catherine Rincon.

I’m a licensed mental health counselor in Florida, a cisgender Afro-Caribbean woman, an INFJ, a mother, sister, and proud wife—but above all, I’m human, just like you.

More than my credentials, I am someone who listens without judgment, offers perspective with care, and creates space for healing. I support those who feel alone in their pain, guiding them toward clarity, confidence, and self-compassion.

My Story

I grew up in a Dominican household where sacrifice, resilience, and hard work were the foundation of everything. My parents gave up so much to build a life for me and my sisters in America. My childhood was full of love—but also full of lessons I didn’t realize I needed to unlearn.

I didn’t have the language for generational trauma, attachment wounds, or the quiet pressure of being a first-generation college grad navigating higher education. I didn’t understand how shame creeps in, how perfectionism can paralyze you, or how being a Black Latina in America comes with unique challenges that aren’t always spoken about.

For a long time, I thought my struggles with anxiety and self-doubt were personal failings—things I just had to push through. It was easier to blame myself rather than nurture myself through the hardships, losses, and failures that tried to redefine me. But therapy changed that. It gave me the space to process, to step out of survival mode, and to actually enjoy the life I worked so hard to build.

That’s why I do this work—because I know what it’s like to feel stuck in your own mind. And I know the freedom that comes from finally giving yourself permission to heal.

How I Work

I believe therapy should feel like a real conversation—not a clinical lecture. If you look at the psychology textbooks, they’d say my approach is a person-centered, trauma-focused style blended with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic techniques.

Translation? I listen without judgment, I challenge when needed, and I help people figure out what’s actually getting in the way of feeling present, confident, and at peace in their own skin.

A Little About Me

Outside of therapy, I’m a bit of a nerd for existential philosophy and mindfulness practices. I love art, baseball, music, video games (yes, guilty pleasure!), deep conversations about life, and finding joy in the little moments with my family.

I also believe in doing the work myself. Every day, I challenge my own perspectives, unpack my experiences, and make space for growth. If you’re ready to do the same, let’s get started.

My Values & Beliefs

Through counseling I have learned the following about myself, and I hope to impart these things to you:

I Am Worthy

Healing starts with recognizing that you don’t have to earn your worth – it’s already yours.

Boundaries

Making choices for yourself isn’t about shutting people out—it’s about creating healthier connections that aligns with who you are.

Self-protection

Protecting your peace isn’t selfish—it’s necessary for growth, healing, and emotional survival.

Failure vs Evolution

Failure is part of the process of reaching my goals, not an indication of who I am

Abuse

The bad things that have happened to you are only a small part of who you are.  Healing isn’t about forgetting – it’s about reclaiming yourself.

The Inner Critic

That voice in your head that tells you you’re not enough? It’s a liar. Let’s rewrite that script.

Values

When you know what truly matters to you, decisions become clearer, relationships become healthier, and life starts to feel like your own.

"It Ends With Me"

You have the power to break free from the patterns of trauma and unrealistic expectations, creating a future where you can be fully present for yourself and those you love.

My Approach

My professional and personal experiences have taught me to address the difficulties of moving on from hard things that happen to us – past, present and future.  I love to help people who are feeling very stressed and overwhelmed with negative thoughts throughout their days because I have been there.
